The PowerBase software is available for the following devices:
· Handheld computers using the 32bit EPOC™ Operating System
Please check your packaging to confirm that you have the appropriate version of the software for your device.
PowerBase may be supplied on one or more floppy disks, a CD or, if you have purchased the product as an “Electronic Software Download” (ESD), in the folder nominated as part of the download process. In all cases, these will contain the following files:
Install.HTM A copy of this guide in HTML format
Install.TXT A copy of this guide in plain text format for the PC
Inst_Mac.TXT A copy of this guide in plain text format for the Mac
If you have an Internet Browser or other program capable of displaying the Install.HTM file (and are not already doing so), you should open this file as it contains links that will help you to install the software and read the User Guide. Alternatively, follow the instructions given in the sections below.
If you have a floppy disk or CD version of PowerBase, insert the disk in an appropriate drive. The Install.HTM file is located in the “root” folder. Alternatively, if you have an ESD version of PowerBase, and nominated it to be placed in (for example) a “Download” folder on a given disk, this will now contain a folder called “PowerBase ESD” that contains the Install.HTM file.
Open the appropriate folder and double-click the Install.HTM file.
Your
PowerBase
software comprises:
PowerBase.SIS The PowerBase application installation file.
Installation files are located in the “Software” folder alongside the Install.HTM file described above. Note that if PowerBase is supplied on multiple floppy disks, the appropriate disk will be labelled accordingly.
From a 32bit Windows platform, PowerBase is normally installed via the “EPOC Install” service provided as part of your “EPOC Connect” or “PsiWin” connectivity software. However, some early versions of the PsiWin software do not provide the “EPOC Install” service. If, in PsiWin, the ‘Install New Program’ command is not available under the ‘Psion’ menu, you need to upgrade PsiWin as described below.
If you do not use a 32bit Windows platform, you can install the software to your handheld computer, provided that your computer is equipped with the appropriate software. You should refer to the documentation provided with that software.
To install an application, open the “Software” folder and double-click the application installation file. If Windows reports that it does not know which application is associated with a .SIS file you need to upgrade your copy of PsiWin as described below.
To launch an application, tap its icon shown in the "Extras Bar".
Move to the System application and choose the Control panel menu command. Tap on the Add/remove icon to display a list of the applications you can remove.
Highlight the application to be removed and tap the Remove button. Confirming the dialog will remove the application from your handheld computer.
The files required to upgrade PsiWin and instructions for their use are available from the Psion Computers web site at http://www.psion.com/.

Format (.pdf) file. Software to display .pdf files is freely available from Adobe
Systems Incorporated and can be acquired from their
Web site at http://www.adobe.com/acrobat/.
Once you have installed the Adobe Acrobat Reader application, you can read the User Guide simply by double-clicking the appropriate file.

Vérifiez le boîtier pour vous assurer que vous disposez de la version appropriée du logiciel pour votre ordinateur.

Si vous disposez d'une version de PowerBase sur disquette ou CD-ROM, insérez la disquette ou le CD-ROM dans le lecteur approprié. Le fichier Install.HTM est situé dans le dossier “racine”. Par contre, si vous disposez de la version ESD de l'application PowerBase et que vous avez choisi de la placer (par exemple) dans un dossier de “Téléchargement” sur un disque donné, ce dossier contient un sous-dossier nommé “PowerBase ESD” où figure le fichier Install.HTM.
Ouvrez le dossier approprié et cliquez deux fois sur le fichier Install.HTM.

Pour installer l'application, ouvrez le dossier “Software” et cliquez deux fois sur le fichier d'installation de l'application. Si un message s'affiche pour indiquer que Windows ne connaît pas l'application associée au fichier .SIS, vous devez mettre à jour votre copie de PsiWin comme indiqué ci-dessous.
Pour lancer l'application, cliquez sur son icône dans la barre "Extras".
Accédez à l'écran Système et sélectionnez l'option Panneau de configuration. Cliquez sur l'icône Ajout./Suppr. pour afficher la liste des applications qui peuvent être supprimées.
Surlignez l'application à supprimer et cliquez sur le bouton Supprimer. En validant la boîte de dialogue, vous supprimez l'application de votre ordinateur de poche.
Les fichiers nécessaires pour mettre à jour PsiWin et les instructions pour les utiliser sont disponibles sur le site Web de Psion Computers à l'adresse http://www.psion.com/.
